A Break-Down of the 10 levels of achievement

THE TRACK – BIKE SKILLS COMPETANCY COURSE

This is The Track’s own progressive competency based scheme of work; our aim is to teach everyone has 10 levels of achievement and takes riders through a variety of biking techniques in an encouraging progressive manner.

Level 1 BASIC BIKE HANDLING STEERINGAND CONTROL
Level 2 PEDALING AND NEGOTIATING SMALL OBSTACLES, SAFELY MOUNT AND DISMOUNT.
Level 3 NEGOTIATE CONTINUOUS OBSTACLES.

Level 4 PUMPING – USING BODY WEIGHT TO GAIN SPEED AROUND THE COURSE.
Level 5 INTERMEDIATE BIKE CONTROL AND ADVANCED MOUNTING/DISMOUNTING.
Level 6 JUMPING PRINCIPLES.
Level 7 CONFIDENTLY RIDE ALL AREAS.
Level 8 ADVANCED SAFETY PRECAUTIONS -foam pit, mulchesc and resi.
Level 9 ADVANCED RIDING – TECHNICAL TABLES.
Level 10 PRO RIDING – ADVANCED LINE

These skills will be taught across different sections of the track depending on the course,
providing progression and achievement, whilst giving enjoyment and exercise, with the final out
come being a competent bike rider who has had a lot of fun whilst still learning and achieving as
part of the process.
These courses provide a level of attainment, with every rider receiving a certificate at the end of
each course. Each topic has its own coaching plan and simple assessment ladder.
The TRACK Levels are designed to use a S.M.A.R.T training approach.

This means:

SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE ACHIEVABLE REALISTIC TARGETS that will show the
progression and improve achievement of the participant.

Once they have completed the tracks safety brief and induction and proven their ability to listen
to instruction and meet a certain skill level, they can then progress to the next stage of the
center with the skills and knowledge to ride safely and within their limits.
Starting with the track induction level 1 on the Skills Development Course going right through
to level 10 on the advanced trails.

Correct body positioning
Steering
Balance

Braking
Once completed the riders can progress at there own rate as much and as quickly as they want
to. We use fun, enjoyment and knowledge to keep riders enthuised in a positive social

environment to encourage skill development.

Theses are the following levels that the riders can choose to progress through.

LEVELS 2 to 4 – Beginners.
LEVELS 5 to 7 – Intermediate.
LEVELS 8 to 10 – Advanced.
